Crombie; Conceptual Identity Proposals

Crombie, one of Britain' most renowned makers of clothes have been around since 1805

Founded by J.J. Crombie in Aberdeen, then relocating to Leeds, the 'Crombie Coat' has been worn by statesmen, noblemen, adopted and adapted by the Mod and Skinhead subculture' of the 1960's and 70's, today remaining a staple of the modern dressed gentlemans wardrobe

The proposed identities draw reference from the existing Crombie identity

The Lion looks to the left, looking to the past and protecting over the Ram who looks forward to the future whilst mounted in the white rose of Yorkshire, flanked by the national flower of Scotland - the thistle, whilst the weavers shuttle and bobin takes centre stage to show the workmanshop that goes into the making of the Crombie range. The typeface shows clean cut lines and the colour red signifies the city of Aberdeen, from where Crombie originates

The strapline font is a reworking of Trajan Pro - be extending the E, reworking the R,Q and crafting the A, the strapline sits comfortably with the identity

Below are 4 other proposed ideas for the Crombie marque

  Elan Training & Development

Identity for a Cheshire based Psychotherapy and Training Agency

Work produced included-
- identity
- stationery

offline printed material
- handbooks
- training material & manuals

- website design

The identity was born out of the owner' love - as a veteran of 20 yeears devotion to the art of meditation, the iconography references the lotus flower and the Goddess Kwan Yin

The overlapping petal shapes and colour effect shows the many parts to the work of Elan Training, not focusing solely on the T.A. work but hopefully encompassing it all

The use of the plant and simple organic
shapes gives a simplicity to the design and
like the use of colour, the subliminal
messaging of life and growth.
